16:00 | Podtatranské Museum in Poprad: Two decades of research: The story of the 1600-year-old Germanic tomb from Poprad-Matejovce. An in-depth expert lecture on the story of the 1600-year-old princely tomb, combined with a guided tour of the permanent exhibition "The Prince of Poprad and his Tomb".

From August 26–29, 2026, we presented the results of the PERTEX project at the 32nd Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists in Athens:
Mária Lepiš-Valigová presented in session No. 79 (Burials of the prominent women in prehistoric societies: The archaeology of social inequality and female worlds) with a poster titled "Searching for Gendered Patterns in the Burial Mounds of the Kalenderberg Culture".
Tereza Štolcová and Lucia Benediková participated in workshop No. 230 (Plant Fibres and Perishable Materials: Approaches, Methods, and Research), where they presented their paper "Beyond the metal: Investigating organic fibres on Final Bronze Age artefacts".

Presentation of the IA SAS and the PERTEX Project at the Pohoda Festival 2026
As part of the Slovak Academy of Sciences' event called Krajina zVEDAvosti, we had a great opportunity on July 11 to present our work to the general public directly at the Pohoda Festival in Trenčín. Our colleagues T. Štolcová, Š. Olšav, and Z. Poláková successfully introduced the festival visitors to the behind-the-scenes activities and current results of the work carried out by archaeologists from the Institute of Archaeology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
An important part of the event was the presentation of the PERTEX project itself, during which we introduced our scientific goals, working methods, and current research findings to the curious audience. We are very glad to have shown modern science in practice and shared our enthusiasm for uncovering the past with the fantastic festival audience.

The PERTEX project was successfully presented abroad. On May 27–29, 2026, the University of Copenhagen hosted the international conference "Ancient Landscapes of Textile Production – Interdisciplinary Perspectives," where T. Štolcová presented its current objectives. Furthermore, she established valuable collaborations with leading experts in archaeological textile research.

At the 6th CSTI 2026 (Conservation Science, Technology and Industry) conference, held on April 20–21, 2026, at Bratislava Castle, T. Štolcová and co-author D. Schaarschmidt presented their research on the unique woollen tapestry from Poprad-Matejovce.

Our colleagues from Archeopark Cífer-Pác visited the remarkable "The Prince of Poprad and his Tomb" exhibition on March 13, 2026. Tereza Štolcová gave them a behind-the-scenes look at the research and shared her extensive knowledge of Germanic clothing and textiles.

Analyzing the weaving workshop from Nitra's „Malý seminár“
Loom weights from a settlement site in Nitra (Malý seminár location), unearthed during research in the 1990s, are being re-examined. Currently, experts are re-evaluating and analysing these artefacts from the La Tène period [March 2026].

The newly discovered La Tène graves from Šurany (Nové Zámky distr.) continue to reveal new insights. Researchers are currently analyzing mineralized textile remains found on metal artifacts [February 2026].
